About Westmoor

Westmoor Elementary is the largest and only single level elementary school in Scottsbluff. The building opened in the fall of 1960 and added a six room pod addition in 1968. Six more classrooms and air conditioning were added in August 2009. In 2011, Westmoor celebrated 50 years of successful education with a community open house.

With and enrollment of right around 400 students, Westmoor has three to four sections of each grade with classroom sizes ranging from 17-27 students. The building is fortunate to house the districts Multi-Categorical Special Education Program, which consists of three additional classrooms. The inclusion of special needs students develops a caring and accepting attitude of people's differences in all students.

Westmoor students utilize Bridges Math curriculum as well as the ELA curriculum, Magnetic Reading. In addition, students access the Accelerated Reader program. This program is supplementary to the regular reading and math curriculum and provide excellent differentiation for all students. Students that master reading levels earn certificates and awards.

Westmoor boasts an amazing PTO which strives to assist in making Westmoor an outstanding school its community can be proud of!

In spite of the size of the building, it truly functions as a family. You can tell when you walk in the front door, it is a child-centered environment.

Westmoor is proud to be a community school in the best sense of the phrase. We currently serve approximately 400 students in grades Kindergarten through 5th.
We have completed phase two of the modernization of Westmoor in the Summer of 2025 with the completion of our Kindergarten and 1st Grade classrooms/hallway, the library, RGR room, and reconfiguration of rooms to create spaces for our new sensory room, workroom, speech room, music room, meeting room, and an office space. The modernization of Westmoor will continue into the school year with the anticipated completion of our new secure vestibule by the end of the first semester and our new kitchen. During the summer of 2026, we will work to finish the remainder of the classrooms and our commons area to bring us up to a polished, new look that will address safety, an environment even more conducive to learning, and general aesthetics.
